Installing the LumaLanes training device is relatively simple. For some reason, this lane was a little extra 'twisty'. The LumaLanes strips, ideally, are to be flat with no twists, but you can also see for yourself; even with a couple twists, they are still PLENTY visible. I wouldn't worry about it too much. In this case we were about to shoot some more underwater content and I wanted the shot to look really crisp so we made sure there weren't any twists in the strip, but again if there are even 5-10 twists across the entire strip it won't affect its performance whatsoever.
You may not believe it now, but (once you're used to it) the system can be placed in the water in less than 2 minutes. The system in this video was a 25M LumaLanes system. A 25-yard system should be even faster than this which was right at 2:00.
The best way we've found to install: 2 swimmers per lane!
One swimmer unbags the lane while the other swimmer slowly swims the (yellow-handled) far end down to the opposite end as the LumaBox. If the LumaLanes LED is swam right down the middle of the lane, then you won't even need to adjust it after it's all out of the bag. Watch as Dan, the guy in the water in the video, swims it right down the middle the whole way. This is ideal for the quickest install time. You can also see me straighten the LumaLanes out at the end from like the flags into the wall closest to me (the unbagger). It's not too hard to straighten, but easier to do it right the first time than to have to swim down to the bottom a bunch of times.
That's it!
P.S. One of the coolest parts of LumaLanes is that you can take this system out and reinstall it an unlimited amount of times. You can take it out of lane 2 and put it in lane 8 or even take it out of your pool and bring it to a swim meet and put it in the warm-up/cool-down pool! The system is 100% portable and the possibilities are endless.
